Synopsis

Samuel McIntyre relentlessly searched the California desert for Lyric, his daughter. He lost sight of her years earlier when a violent thunderstorm and flood separated the two of them at the base of a foreboding mountain. Trying to locate the area seemed to be a hopeless and futile undertaking as he traversed the vast regioncontaining over twenty four million acresknown as the Great Basin, Colorado, and Mojave deserts.

While growing up, Sam attempted to overcome psy-chological damage inflicted upon him by abusive parents, as he did so, he believed it possible to manipulate people and situations to obtain his goals, his happiness, and his treasure. Continuing to follow that credence of implausible expectations not only harmed him, but the unfortunates who stood in his path, because at every twisting turn of events reality outwitted his conniving.

The final episode in the desert affected him to such a degree that Sam reconsidered his principles and values. Admitting his belief was unsuccessful and had betrayed him, he disavowed it. The subsequent change in his philosophy assisted him in achie-ving a satisfying, more worthwhile life. As you strive for your happiness, your treasure here on earth will the result be as re-warding?

The disheveled sky lowered its sinister breath. Darkness descended and water fell. Raindrops hit the roof like bullets. Lightning accompanied by resounding thunder streaked around him as panic took over obliterating his self-assurance. Frightened and shaking, Sam realized he was in dire trouble and that death could be waiting for him in the unfathomable, merciless desert.
